ES&S provided full civil site design services for construction of the new 315,000-sf Muriel Battle High School campus in Columbia, Missouri. ES&S first assisted the Owner with evaluation of sites for the new facility, requiring conceptual site plans, evaluation of necessary services and opinions of site development costs associated with various locations for an approximately 60-acre property (38-acres developed). As part of the overall development of the site, ES&S provided topographic surveys, facility layout, coordination of grading & drainage plans for MSHSAA compliant, varsity level fields for baseball, softball, and football, tennis courts (x8), and a 400-meter track. ES&S also provided full site design of the full-size practice fields for soccer, baseball, and football, certain track & field activities, and sidewalks and plazas serving the facilities. A major consideration in design was ADA compliant grading from the high school building and parking areas to all varsity level athletic fields/courts, including multilevel bleacher seating on both sides of the track and football field. ES&S was a subconsultant to the prime architect, DLR Group and coordinated closely with the VSR Design on the athletic facilities.
