Concordia Entrance Improvements – Phase I

About the Project

ES&S provided design, preparation of construction documents, and assisted the City with construction-support services for Phase I of a project to provide safer, more attractive pedestrian accessibility underneath I-70 along MO Route 23.  New connection provides a separated sidewalk along the corridor from a commercial area north of the interstate towards downtown Concordia.  This is a segment of corridor used extensively by students at the residential high-school to the south and there are plans to continue the improvements towards the central business district.

Design included sidewalk along the west side of Route 23 for approximately 1130-LF.  Features include a retaining wall with recessed lighting on the abutment side of the bridge columns (design by subconsultant), new curb/gutter, modifications to existing enclosed drainage and inlets, new and relocated signage, crosswalk, and ADA upgrades.
