ES&S provided engineering study and design for storm drainage improvements (SDI) and roadway upgrades for three adjacent subdivisions (The Crossroads, Rustic Oaks & Southtown Estates) in unincorporated Cole County. The area upstream has had recent development that has resulted in flooding complaints and increased maintenance to the existing drainage system. Services included topographic survey to support hydrologic/hydraulic analysis of the approximately 20-acre sub-basin, and geometric improvements to three intersections, to improve sight distance at an apartment complex, and to adjust poor driveway grades along the roadways that were the cause of spot flooding during heavy rain events. The drainage study, along with neighborhood complaint history, was used to identify several locations where upgrades were required to the existing enclosed system and ditch sections. ES&S also evaluated the need for and feasibility of constructing an upstream storm water detention facility(ies).
